Due to a question that we have been asked repeatedly by CUBUS users, we have decided it would be interesting to publish this article to explain how to obtain results of the elements we want in a project of CEDRUS building doing a special analysis in FAGUS.
Module H of CEDRUS building (if you also have Module G), allows the generation of a STATIK framework model from the building model introduced. With the framework model it is possible to run a series of analyses on each of the elements that constitute it. One of the analysis options that can be carried out is the FAGUS special analysis from which we can obtain, for example, the necessary reinforcement for the elements we choose (pillars, beams, walls…).
Suppose we have a CEDRUS building model like this one:
From this CEDRUS building we can generate the framework model in STATIK, obtaining the following elements:
In the framework model there are elements that form wall pillars and column elements. If we render in STATIK we will be able to see what type of model each of the bars is.
A FAGUS special analysis is implemented from the ‘Analysis tab’. Clicking on the ‘Special Analysis’ icon:
Generating, for example, a special analysis from a defined response spectrum:
And double-clicking on it to edit:
We will see that, apart from defining the specification of the dimensioning analysis, stress and efficiency analysis, we have the option of entering a series of additional parameters.
By default, when we define this kind of special analysis we will be proposed to obtain results of the partial system PC+PW. With the administration of special analysis tool we can see that ‘PC+PW’ is the partial system containing all the screens (wall pillars) that are in it, but in this partial system the bars that work as pillars that I also want to dimension are not included.
If we want to obtain results, for example, for columns and wall pillars in this case, we will have to select the option ‘All bars’ from the drop-down menu.
Thus, when the calculation is run, we will see the necessary reinforcement areas for each of the elements defined in the building, including the columns.
At this point, it would be fairly interesting to read this other article, which explains the meaning of the ‘Pillar design’ option that appears in the dialog box in the special analysis definition.
