A client performing an earthquake calculation with STATIK entered the following data as response spectra:
He asked us if the following graphical representation of the spectrum was correct, since it did not reach T=5s and ended abruptly after T=4s.
The answer is very simple. There is no error, it is simply that the STATIK program, by default, in the graphical display of the response spectrum with linear scale, only shows as maximum up to T=4s, that is why it ends with a vertical branch, since the next value is lower but it is not shown in the graph.
If instead we see the graph in logarithmic scale we can perfectly check the behavior in the last descending section, as can be seen below.
