The graphical and tabular results given by STATIK for the dimensioned reinforcement of member cross-sections are the result of a very powerful calculation performed through FAGUS, but it is very important to control very well what it is showing us.
STATIK provides through the “Standard” results output a table with the following configuration (corresponding to the graphical representation):
As we can see, the header specifies “top” and “bottom” reinforcement and this is in the strict sense, i.e. the top and bottom reinforcement with respect to a horizontal neutral fiber for a normal beam. This makes it a valid output for 99% of the cases, but for a case like the one shown below where it is necessary to dimension the lateral reinforcement of the section subjected mainly to a moment Mz (always speaking in local axes), we must use the “result point” tool of FAGUS.
Entering result points in FAGUS is very simple. In this section we are going to enter one for the left reinforcement (which we will call IZQUI) and one for the right reinforcement (which we will call DERE):
1.- We edit the section with FAGUS.
2.- Once we are in FAGUS we go to the “Armor” tab.
3.- Click on the “Result point” icon and enter one for each armor with the following options:
It is very important that in (1) we select the reference reinforcement for each result point and in (2) we indicate that we want to obtain the longitudinal reinforcement.
4.- Save and go back to STATIK.
Once we are back in STATIK, we go to the “Results” tab and we see that we still have the results “Standard” and “Control with FAGUS” in the drop-down list:
But, if we solve, an option called “Additional” appears:
And this is the one that applies in this case:
